【Weekly Post】『叱った時と注意した時と褒めた時子供の心に何が残るか?』

【Weekly Post】

In PK class and C class, some members sometimes joke around a lot, and some members can’t remember choreography very well. Just scolding, warning, or praising them can lead to completely different results.

“Why can’t you do it? “Why don’t you understand?” “You have to learn the choreography or you won’t be able to participate…” Have you ever heard that before? Other ways to say it are the same, but I think it’s better to think about how you can say it without hurting someone’s feelings.

I am careful about what I say when I pay attention to them, but I don’t praise them often enough, so I want to focus on praising each member more this year.

Praise is important for children. Whenever you give a warning or praise, you need to explain what you did and what you were able to do. Even praise for small things can lead to motivation for the individual. If you scold, the individual will lose their identity and not want to go to the lesson. However, praising everything is also a no-no.

Don’t hold back and say good things you couldn’t do, it’s better to find things you could do and praise them. “It’s better to praise the things that are done, and say, “You did a great job doing ____ today.
When you scold, it leads to the idea that the child is a bad person and can’t do anything.
When you praise, you need to tell the child why and how you are praising. Praise is important not only for what has been done, but also during the process.
There are two types of praise: 1. a sentence that begins with “You” (or “you”), “You did a great job today, Mr. XXX! ➖In the child’s mind, “Sensei, you’re looking at me. I/we can do it. I’m great. I’ll work harder tomorrow.” 2.

2. The document starts with I (staff). ”I’m proud of you because you could do it/worked hard to be able to do it” “I’m happy that you ○○○○” “I’m surprised that you ○○○○ I’m glad you’re happy” “I’m surprised you’re surprised” ➖ be much more emotional to the child.
More praise, more motivation.

If you are not careful about how you phrase your praise, it can lead to bad consequences.
Here are some examples of good written praise:
-I have more information now than in the previous lesson.
-You practiced and learned what was wrong, great!
-You’re getting better and better every week, you’re getting prettier and prettier.
-I did a lot of work today.
-You’re better than last time.
-I knew you could do it.
I thought you could do it. -You should be proud of yourself, you’ve done so much.

Note: Never use words such as “better than you,” “better than you,” or “more beautiful than you.

Be careful about what you say when you praise and when you warn.
